Job Title: Part-time Executive Director

Organization: Avon Lake Athletic Boosters

Position Type: Part-time (Consultive, 1099)

Compensation: $25,000 - $35,000 annually


Position Summary:

Avon Lake Athletic Boosters is seeking a Part-time Executive Director to lead and support the organization in achieving its strategic goals, mission, and objectives. The Executive Director will work in close collaboration with the existing board members to ensure that all aspects of the organization, including governance, fundraising, public relations, marketing, and administration, are efficiently managed, and aligned with the association's mission and bylaws.

Key Responsibilities:

Development:

  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit donors to secure financial support for the organization.

  • Identify and collaborate with individuals who can provide legal and technical assistance, particularly concerning bylaws, the mission statement, and potential gifts.

  • Manage and execute fundraising events and opportunities, including assigning leadership positions and recruiting volunteers.

  • Recognize and acknowledge donors for their contributions.

  • Collaborate with the Avon Lake Athletic Boosters (ALAB) Board to develop attainable and forward-moving goals.

  • Manage the oversight of sports teams’ financial camp accounts held by the ALAB.

Public Relations and Marketing:

  • Support the ALAB Marketing Team in managing social media platforms, including websites, Facebook, Twitter, and other relevant channels, to keep them current.

  • Work in coordination with the ALAB Board to produce regular newsletters.

  • Develop regular communications with coaches and staff in collaboration with the schools' administration.

  • Create a plan to raise awareness of ALAB's work and successes in the community.

  • Prepare and maintain written materials, such as brochures and press releases.

  • Foster communication with alumni of Avon Lake High School (ALHS) for general support and updates.

  • Collaborate with affiliated partners such as PTO and other school clubs to promote and publicize events.

General Administrative Services:

  • Coordinate all board meetings and work with board members and the Avon Lake Athletic Director to develop meeting agendas.

  • Ensure that projects are progressing as planned.

  • Coordinate general board committee meetings and provide assistance as needed.

  • Write thank-you notes to companies, firms, and individuals who assist with projects.

  • Prepare annual budgets in conjunction with the board, board treasurer and ALAB Accountants to ensure adherence to the budget.

  • Actively engage in the recruitment of new board members.

  • Collaborate with designated board member(s) to establish a foundation and ensure the prudent management of endowments and donations.

  • Attend selective school board meetings and strategic planning meetings with school board and administration to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Review and approve payments of camp account funds to vendors or approved recipients while ensuring complete compliance with tax laws.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in using social media platforms for marketing and communication.

  • Sound knowledge of financial operations and budget management.

  • Ability to solicit financial contributions and support.

  • A college degree is preferred.

  • Background in non-profit work with an understanding of 501c3 Charity Tax laws is preferred
